Wireless Light Switches Recalled By Idea Village

More than 1.3 million Handy Switch, Wireless Light Switches have been recalled by Idea Village Products Corp. because the receiver, which fits into the outlet, can overheat posing a fire hazard.

To this date, there have been 14 reports of overheating, including nine reports of fire and five reports of minor property damage, such as damaged bedding, curtains or walls.

The recalled Handy Switch is model number KS-080. They were sold at mass merchandisers nationwide and through TV infomercials from March 2007 through July 2009.

Consumers should visit the IdeaVillage Web site and fill out a form to initiate a free replacement. In the meantime the product should not be used.
