The Sherwin-Williams Co., in cooperation with the CPSC, announced a recall of Purdy 2 1/2" 4-Edge Scrapers because the body can break away from the handle when struck against a hard object, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.

The recalled includes 76,000 scrapers manufactured by Allway Tools Inc., of New York.

To date, the company has received four reports of the scraper body separating from the handles; no injuries have been reported.

The recalled scrapers are a 2 1/2" wide steel tool with a four-sided edge. They were sold in several stores nationwide from February through June 2009.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled items and to return them to any Sherwin-Williams store or the place of purchase for a free replacement.

Consumer Contact: For more information, contact Sherwin-Williams at (888) 304-3769 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit www.sherwin-williams.com
