Worker Injured In Construction Zone Hit-And-Run

An Ohio driver is in custody after allegedly speeding through an active construction zone where he struck a worker and continued driving.

The accident happened at 4:30 a.m. Friday near the northbound exit for Sale Ave. /First Street.

According to officers, another worker called 9-1-1 before jumping into his own car to follow the driver. He followed him until he was joined by police who stopped the vehicle and took the man into custody.

The driver appeared intoxicated. The driver is expected to be charged for operating a vehicle while intoxicated as well as hit-and-run.

The worker suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.
