Meigs County authorities say emergency crews have recovered the car and body of a motorist who drove off an unfinished Ohio River bridge Sunday night.

Police say 19-year-old Gerald Baker of Coolville drove onto the completed onramp and plowed through a five-thousand-pound concrete barrier at the end of the bridge that's still under construction.

It will span the river from Pomeroy, Ohio, to West Virginia.

Meigs County Deputy Josh Ridenour says rescue divers located the car overnight and pulled it from the river at about 2 P.M. Monday.

Ridenour says Baker was traveling from Pomeroy and was inside the car when it was found.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
