A Lewisburg woman, 46, was killed in a car accident on Ohio 503 near the Preble County-Darke County line. She was pronounced dead at the scene from the serious injuries she sustained in the crash.

A passing motorist discovered the woman's 1997 Chevrolet Venture van on the north side of Ohio 503, just after 3:30 a.m.. Police believe the vehicle struck a ditch and rolled over several times before coming to rest after striking a tree.

Preble County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the cause of the accident, at this time they are unsure what caused the van to leave the roadway.

The victim was taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, in Dayton, where an autopsy will be performed. Before investigators can make a final determination on the cause of the crash, they need the results of the toxicology report.

Ohio 503 was closed for three hours while officials conducted their investigation.
