The city’s storm sewer system became the escape route of a suspected drunken driver, in Findlay, on Tuesday, as police searched for him following a car accident.

The chase ensued after a school bus struck a car driven by a man, 28, of Findlay, according to police.

Police say he ran into an open storm-drainage pipe. Officers with flashlights followed him into the sewer chasing him in 6-inch deep water. He was finally caught when he exited the manhole some three blocks away exhausted and soaking wet

He is being charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license according to police documents. At this time there are no further details available as police investigate the incident in further detail.
